T20 begins of India's tour to England
The world ODI champions , the world Twenty20 champions when India take on England in the one-off T20 match at theOld Trafford on Wednesday.
The Indian team is licking its wounds after the humiliating Test series loss to the English. But three wins against Sussex, Kent and Leicestershire in warm-up games have given the visiting team some boost. Now, they are looking to put one across England to somewhat make up for the earlier ignominy.
The five-match ODI series follows this T20 scrap. So, the Indians are aiming to win it and gain some confidence ahead of the one-dayers.
The Indian team, on its part, is not reading too much into these victories. They're investing their effort in practice and application.
Without the services of Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh, who have been crucial players even in the shortest format of the game, the approaching contest doesn't bestow the Indians with any advantage over their opponents. With the sides evenly matched, the match is likely to have its nail-biting moments.
The English team, reigning T20 champions, also have a lot to play for. New-comers like Jos Buttler and Alex Hales know breaking into the team is nothing but a matter of pride. Thus, they will be eager to perform well and leave a mark.
As for the Indian side, the most interesting development was skipper MS Dhoni's indication thatRahul Dravid would be playing his first T20 international on Wednesday. Such has been the brittleness of Indian batting in the tour so far that India cannot do without Dravid even in a T20 game!
Meanwhile, in practice matches, Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel made an impression. Among bowlers, Praveen Kumar and Munaf Patel are expected to operate in tandem.
The Indians are relieved that R Ashwin, who is going to be the one of the main strike bowlers in the next 18 days in England, is in the team and is raring to go.

15 Tips For the Day
- Clear your schedule. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish if you give yourself a large chunk of time. A to-do ending day can’t be filled with all the regular errands of your life. The entire day needs to be focused on killing that list, so pick a day where you can have complete control over your time.
- Wake up early. Building momentum is critical. Even if waking up at 6 am isn’t a usual event for you, it can be helpful here. Which do you think will give you the right start: dragging yourself out of bed at ten o’clock, or forcing yourself to start moving at six?
- Collect your to-do list. If you have tasks and projects scattered over different parts of your life, you need to collect them into one list. One list detailing everything you want to have accomplished, on one piece of paper you can hold in front of you.
- Know the end. What does being finished look like? Every task should have a clear goal and purpose beyond just getting done. You can spend an entire day attacking your to-do list and accomplishing nothing if you aren’t clear on the final picture.
- Put hard tasks first. Pick your biggest and most difficult tasks and start on them first. Putting off the hard work is a sure sign it won’t get done. By putting the difficult tasks first, you also build a momentum that allows you to focus easily.
- Isolate yourself. Lock yourself in a room, unplug your phone and internet if you have to. Anything to ensure that interruptions won’t break your focus. A few hours of complete focus can accomplish what would take several days of multitasking.
- Set your rest breaks. Working continuously for several hours can be difficult to do with mentally straining work, especially if you aren’t used to it. My suggestion is to set short, but meaningful breaks in advance so you won’t be tempted to procrastinate.
- Match breaks with tasks, not time. Your breaks should match up with the large to-do chunks on your list, not at a specific time. If you plan to finish a report you expect to take ninety minutes, finish it in one chunk. Taking a break while working on a major task will only break your flow.
- Be patient when accelerating. It can take time to build up speed. When I write an article, it can take me up to fifteen minutes to get a clear idea on what I want to write. During this build-up time, the temptation is to quit or move on to something easier. Avoid that temptation and be patient.
- Give yourself meaningful rewards. If you finish your to-do list, take a break. Go out and have fun, watch a television show, meet up with friends or just stare blankly at a wall. Feeling the urge to be completely productive 24/7 is an easy way to ensure you never do.
- Does it need to be done? Cross off any items that lack long-term importance. Purify your to-do list so it only contains tasks that will be significant months and years from now. If your to-do list doesn’t seem important, it probably isn’t.
- Energize your diet. Engineer your food and exercise routine to give you the energy you need throughout the day. Eat lighter foods and avoid simple carbohydrates (which spike your blood glucose and then drop it). Drink plenty of water and eat smaller meals more frequently. Your goal is to create a diet that will keep your fuel levels even throughout the day.
- To exercise or not to exercise? Exercise is definitely a good idea. But whether you should bother heading to the gym on an intense project attacking day depends. I would say that a quick run can give you enough added energy to make up for the time loss. But if your exercise is long and prescheduled, you might want to leave it out to focus completely on your to-do list.
- Collect resources ahead of time. The night before you plan your epic battle against your to-do, prepare. Make sure you have all the right tools, information and resources to get the job done. Nothing feels worse than a half-finished list because you needed to wait on information from a third party.
- Chunk, don’t spread. Don’t spread tasks over all your waking hours like butter on toast. Intensity trumps time-management. Get as much done as possible and give yourself large chunks for both work and play. Spreading yourself too thin results in only a half-effort.

Domestic Violence !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Say ‘NO’ to it......... [ we can do it ]
Domestic violence, especially violence against women, is a widespread occurrence throughout the world. Violence against women is a cultural aspect of our society that many women don’t want to acknowledge.
It is, in many ways, a result of gender inequalities and power disproportion. It is very difficult for victims of domestic violence to access appropriate services and receive sufficient assistance to ensure their safety and protection.
Getting out of an abusive and violent relationship is not unproblematic and easy. According to a survey, one in every four women will be physically abused by their partner at some time during their lifetime.
Many women remain silent about their suffering because of shame and family dishonor. The one, who suffers from domestic violence, probably feels trapped and helpless. Either they suffer from acute depression, or sometimes even victims commit suicide.
But now it’s time to wake up and fight against domestic violence, as keeping quiet and tolerating is not a solution. So called “ Family honor ” and “ respect ” is not much important than an individual life.
The future of finding solutions to domestic violence includes- continuing to improve the efficiency of management, and to strengthen legal protection for victims, as well as responsibility and treatment for abusers.
It is very important for a woman who suffers from domestic violence to ask for information on domestic violence from the police department, family courts or local hospitals. Reading about these crimes might make it more real, and victims may gain the courage to report what is happening.
Adult family members can also help prevent domestic violence by being nurturing and by providing consistent, structured supervision...

Are You Aware?
It's the year 2011. A funeral procession passes through a village, and the sun is high in the sky. And before you know it, the dead man is abandoned to his fate, and the procession party scrambles towards the precious street. This is an under five-minute play that has the audience of hundreds of students, roaring with laughter. But when one of the actors says that we should save water and plant more trees, or we could reach a stage in which water was rationed, his words are greeted with absolute silence.
Street theatre group ‘Aware' often does this to its viewers. It makes them laugh, cry, but most importantly, it gets them thinking.
Lokpal alone will not help eradicate corruption: Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi on Friday asserted that Lokpal Act alone will not help eradicate corruption, and appeared to disapprove of Anna Hazare’s fast, saying “individual dictates” must not weaken democratic process as dangerous precedents could be set.
Agreeing that “corruption is pervasive” which operates at “every level”, Mr. Gandhi said in the Lok Sabha that a set of effective laws along with creation of an statutory institution of Lokpal like the Election Commission would be required to fight the malaise.
“We cannot wish away corruption by the mere desire to see it removed from our lives. This requires a comprehensive framework of action and a concerted political programme supported by all levels of the State from the highest to the lowest. Most importantly, it requires firm political will,” he said during Zero Hour, amid noisy protests from NDA members.
Referring to the anti—corruption campaign of Anna Hazare, Mr. Gandhi said it has “helped the people to articulate” disillusionment and that he “thanks him for that”.
At the same time, the Congress leader said, “individual dictates, no matter how well-intentioned, must not weaken the democratic process....A tactical incursion, divorced from the machinery of an elected government that seeks to undo the checks and balances created to protect the supremacy of Parliament sets a dangerous precedent for a democracy.”

For Women
Are You Ready to Start Your Own Business?
Do I have the capital?
All businesses have a budget and you cannot start one without the money. “Most businesses run into lakhs of money. Even if you do take a loan, you need to be able to pay it back,” says Ankita Bharadwaj, who owns a boutique in Mumbai.
Will it be profitable?
If your business has little or no demand, how will you pay back your loan? Moreover, you still need money to pay rent and taxes. According to Bharadwaj, “A lot of people don’t realise that the business may just turn out to be a loss-bearing venture if they don’t think things through.”
Can I operate independently?
It isn’t easy to make sure everything is working smoothly between your source, you and the client. As Maya Kansal, a jewellery designer from Mumbai, says, “You will not realise the amount of responsibility on your shoulders until you start off. It is always easier to work with a partner who can share the responsibility.”
Is the location right?
If you are planning on buying or renting a place for your business, you should select the right location for it. “If there is proper exposure, you will get the right people coming in,” says Bharadwaj. Even if you are operating from home, you will need to find the right people.
Who is the target?
You aren’t sure who should buy your clothes, so you make stuff for everyone. However, if you are handling the business yourself, you will have less variety unless you increase your workforce. “It is better to stick to a niche target so that you can explore more and be more creative. You can also stick to better quality stuff,” says Kansal.
If you can answer these questions positively, go ahead and start your business. If not, figure out how you can get things right first.
Morning cigarette does more harm
Smokers who are inclined to take a few puffs soon after waking up may face an increased risk of developing lung, head and neck cancers thansmokers who do it later.
Joshua Muscat, from the Penn State College of Medicine, Hershey, and colleagues investigated whether early morning puffing boosts smokers' risk of lung and head and neck cancers.
"These smokers have higher levels of nicotine and possibly other tobacco toxins in their body, and they may be more addicted than smokers who refrain from smoking for a half hour or more," said Muscat.
The lung cancer analysis included 4,775 lung cancer cases, all of whom were regular cigarette smokers, according to Penn State statement.
Compared with those who smoked more than 60 minutes after waking, those who smoked 31 to 60 minutes after waking were 1.31 times more likely to develop lung cancer, and those who smoked within 30 minutes were 1.79 times more likely to develop lung cancer.
The head and neck cancer analysis included 1,055 head and neck cancer cases and 795 controls, all with a history of cigarette smoking.
Compared with individuals who smoked more than 60 minutes after waking up, individuals who smoked 31 to 60 minutes after waking were 1.42 times more likely to develop head and neck cancer.
